Dr. Anna Asher graduated cum laude from Yale University in 1999. She was awarded her medical school degree in 2004 from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. She then completed an internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2005 and residency in Dermatology at Tulane University School of Medicine in 2008, also serving as chief resident during her training. Dr. Asher is Board Certified by the American Board of Dermatology.
Dr. Asher has training in skin cancer and skin/hair/nail diseases. Her areas of interest include psoriasis, skin cancer, and acne/rosacea. She has had training in various cosmetic procedures such as Botox/Dysport/Xeomin and fillers. In addition to private practice, Dr. Asher is an Affiliate Faculty Member in the University of Mississippi School of Medicine Department of Dermatology. Dr. Asher provides her services at Belle Meade Medical Dermatology in Flowood, MS and Madison Medical Dermatology in Madison, MS.
Dr. Asher is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. She is a published author and has received grants from the Women’s Dermatologic Society. She also received the Parents and Kids magazine’s “Favorite Dermatologist” award in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.
Dr. Asher grew up in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She has 2 older brothers who are also physicians and a younger sister who is a pharmacist. She is happily married to Dr. Fred Asher, a Hospital Medicine physician at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, and they have two children.
