Who We Are

Madison Medical – Dermatology and Rheumatology – is a medical group located in Madison, MS, on Highland Colony Parkway, just north of Broadmoor Baptist Church, in the Fountains of Madison. Dr. Anna C. Asher and Dr. Miriam J. Shatley are two area board-certified dermatologists who have expanded access by providing services in the Madison area in addition to their current clinic in Flowood, MS. Physician Assistant, Ms. Leah Calder, will provide outstanding support to deliver quality dermatology care. Dr. Robert McMurray is continuing his service in the field of Rheumatology after teaching lab, research and clinical at the University of Mississippi for 19 years. He is joined by physician assistants, Miranda Street Sudduth and Alyssa Weeks, in providing a broad spectrum of arthritis care.

Dr. Anna Asher is a board-certified dermatologist and graduate of Yale University who attended medical school at the University of Mississippi in Jackson, MS. A native Mississippian, Dr. Asher completed 3 years of dermatology residency training at Tulane University, where she served as the Chief Resident in Dermatology. Dr. Asher has broad experience in adult and pediatric dermatology problems and provides thorough and detailed care in a straightforward and professional manner. Dr. Asher has extensive experience in a wide variety of cosmetic medical procedures.

Dr. Miriam Shatley is a board-certified dermatologist with over 25 years of clinical experience. Dr. Shatley attended medical school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Little Rock, AR, and completed a pediatric residency at the University of Missouri, Columbia, MO. She completed 3 years of dermatology residency training at the University of Missouri and completed a training rotation in Pediatric Dermatology at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL, prior to entering private practice for 1 year. Subsequently, Dr. Shatley matriculated to the University of Mississippi and served as faculty at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Hospital, Jackson, MS, for 10 years. Dr. Shatley has broad experience in adult and pediatric medical dermatology problems, as well as cosmetic interventions, and provides comprehensive and compassionate care in a Christian atmosphere.

Dr. Robert McMurray is a board-certified rheumatologist with over 30 years of rheumatology and internal medicine experience. A medical school graduate of the University of North Carolina, Dr. McMurray completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Arkansas before completing subspecialty training in Rheumatology at the University of Missouri. He remained on faculty there for 5 years before matriculating to the University of Mississippi. Dr. McMurray served at both the University of Mississippi Medical Center and the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Hospital for 19 years, providing clinical services in rheumatology and internal medicine, education for medical students, residents and fellows, and research that resulted in over 70 publications. During this time, he achieved the rank of Professor of Medicine, was Department of Medicine Teacher of the Year (2003), was Chief of the VA Medical Service for 2 years, and served 10 years as the Division Director of Rheumatology at the University of Mississippi Department of Medicine. He has also received training in musculoskeletal acupuncture. Dr. McMurray looks forward to continuing his career by providing rheumatologic care in the community.

Ms. Leah Calder PA-C is a board-certified physician assistant with over 12 years of clinical dermatology experience. A graduate of Northwest Rankin High School and Delta State University, Ms. Calder attended Emory University Physicians Assistant program and was in a private dermatology practice in Atlanta, GA, before returning to her home area in Rankin County. She has extensive experience in diagnosing and treating acne, psoriasis, eczema and all types of skin cancers. She practices under the supervision of Drs. Shatley and Asher, and has available opportunities at both the Flowood and Madison offices.

Ms. Miranda Street Sudduth PA-C attended the University of Southern Mississippi and was recognized as an outstanding scholar. Having graduated from the Mississippi College Physician Assistant program in 2013, Ms. Sudduth provides rheumatology care under the supervision of Dr. Robert McMurray.

Alyssa Weeks PA-C  is board certified Physician Assistant. She obtained her Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. She went on to complete her Master’s of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa. Alyssa practiced Emergency Medicine for 2.5 years in Des Moines prior to joining Madison Medical Rheumatology. She will be providing Rheumatology care under the supervision of Dr. Robert McMurray. Alyssa recently relocated to Mississippi to join her now husband, Andrew. They were married on July 8th, 2017
